Lutfi Sunar is an associate professor at Istanbul Medeniyet University Department of Sociology. His major research interest is the classical sociological theory, Orientalism, modernization, social change and political economy. He has published various articles in international journals in this field. Among his recent books are Marx and Weber on Oriental Societies (Ashgate, 2014), Türkiye’de Toplumsal Değişim (as editor, 2014), Eurocentrism at the Margins: Encounters, Critics and Going Beyond (as editor, Routledge, 2002), and Debates on Civilization in the Muslim World: Critical Perspectives on Islam and Modernity (as editor, Oxford University Press, 2017).
